A POEM BASED ON PSALM 46

GOD IS OUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH
(Deus Noster Refugium)

God is our refuge and strength. He is our very help in times of sorrow and pain;
He is our strength in times of trouble. In faith, may we call on His holy name.
Because the Lord God is our very help, we shall not have any worry or fear;
God is ever present. He is not far removed, but He is always very near.

Though the waters around us rage and foam, we are set firm. We shall forever stand;
Though the ground under us shakes, God holds us safely in the palm of His hand.
We are not alone. The Lord of hosts is faithful. He will always go with us;
Through Him, we are strengthened. He alone is the source of both our hope and trust.

God stands in the midst of His people. He fills us with His joy and gladness;
His holy presence dispels all gloom, all sorrow, and wipes away our sadness.
Since God stands in our midsts, we are protected, and we are not left alone;
God is ever faithful. He takes care of the needs of His very own.

God shall help us. He shall be our support and comfort at the break of day;
He shall remain ever faithful. His grace and His mercy will not fade or pass away.
Let not our hearts or spirits be troubled. At all times, let us be still;
May God ever strengthen us to do His most holy will.

The God of hosts will guard us. At all times He will stand with us;
He is our everlasting hope. In Him, we believe. In Him, do we hope and trust.
His goodness and His mercy are everlasting, and are from old;
Truly, God is our everlasting refuge. He shall always be our everlasting stronghold.
